As our new Web designer, you will create the look, layout, feel, functionality, and features of all the websites we are developing. You will work on developing new websites and on enhancing our existing Web properties.
You will work closely with our Marketing managers, strategists, and other design team members to make designs using emerging Web technologies.
Responsibilities:
● Client Consultation: Collaborate with clients to gather and understand their specific website requirements, objectives, and design preferences.
● Create mockups and wireframes that visually represent the website’s layout, structure, and design concepts.
● Transform approved mockups and wireframes into fully functional websites or web pages, ensuring alignment with client expectations and design best practices.
Skills/Knowledge required:
● Proficiency in HTML and CSS is essential for creating and styling web content.
● Demonstrated ability to create websites that function seamlessly across various devices and screen sizes. Knowledge of media queries and responsive design principles is necessary.
● Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Sketch, or Figma for designing website layouts and graphics.
● Strong understanding of typography principles, including font selection, spacing, and hierarchy, to ensure readability and visual appeal.
● Knowledge of color theory and its application in web design, including considerations for accessibility and user experience.
● (UX) Design: Familiarity with UX principles, including wireframing, prototyping etc., to create user-friendly interfaces.
● Basic understanding of JavaScript to enhance interactivity and functionality on web pages.
● Knowledge of techniques to optimize web page load times, including image compression, minification, and lazy loading, to ensure a smooth user experience.
● (CMS): Familiarity with popular CMS platforms like WordPress, Drupal, or Joomla is a plus and can be advantageous for managing and updating website content.
● Understanding the fundamentals of search engine optimization (SEO) and best practices for structuring web content to improve search engine visibility.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s in computer science or related field, or significant equivalent experience.
● Three years minimum experience with HTML/XHTML and CSS.
● A strong visual and technical portfolio.
● A high level of proficiency using Adobe products (or equivalent tools).
● Knowledge of browser compatibility across multiple platforms and devices.
● Strong ability to design with accessibility in mind.
